About Me

Welcome to KPWms Art Studio, featuring the art of Katrina Parker Williams, where you will experience my love of art and writing.  I am an artist, a writer, and a blogger from North Carolina.  I have been painting since I was a teen.  I have been writing for as long.  When I am not writing, I am painting.  Both keep me busy and inspired.

My Art:
I have been drawing and painting since I was a teen.  It wasn't until my adult years that I started painting on a regular basis.  I have experimented with various mediums: oil, acrylic, watercolor, colored pencil, and pen and ink.  I enjoy painting in acrylic, primarily.  It is a demanding medium as one must paint quickly due to the fast-drying characteristics of acrylic paints.  I also paint in watercolor, which is also demanding.  This medium intrigues me as well as challenges me every time I create a watercolor painting.   I enjoy painting still life subjects, either from photos or from life, using bold, vibrant colors.  I take my camera with me almost everywhere I go as I can discover wonderful subjects for my still life paintings.  I find beauty in almost everything I see every day.  With my art, I strive to capture the beauty of those everyday objects.

My Writings:
I am a former English Instructor at a community college.  I am a Barton College graduate with a B.S. in Communications and a Masters of Education in English from East Carolina University.  I am also the author of several fictional novels, short story collections, and short stories.  My works have appeared in Charlotte Viewpoint, Muscadine Lines, Usadeepsouth, and on the Wilson Community College websiteMy writings have also been published at The Saints’ Placenta, All Things Girl, Dead Mule School of Southern Literature, Patchwork Path: Treasure Box, and Pens on Fire.
